What are radial and axial bearings?
Although all ball bearings can reduce rotational friction, some high-precision bearings are specially manufactured to withstand loads in various directions or bearing loads. Two examples are axial load (or thrust load) and radial load.
The radial ball bearing is designed to withstand forces perpendicular to the shaft direction or radial load. Some ball bearings can withstand the radial and axial loads imposed on the shaft, and these combined axial/radial load bearings are achieved through axial angular contact. The angle of these axial radial bearings allows the axial load and radial load to be more evenly distributed along the axial angular contact ball bearing.
SXM provides a series of sliding bearing solutions that can support axial loads, radial loads and even two types of loads.
